The University of New South Wales
In 2022, I started my professional career as one of UNSW’s first Student Social Media Assistants for the Division of External Engagement, where my main responsibilities were to spearhead, film, and edit various short-form content series that highlighted student and campus life.
Prior to joining the UNSW social team, all their content largely centred around marketing the achievements of the university and nice videos of the campus. While these were important aspects to highlight, I saw potential to usher in a new era of videos: various series that placed focus on the students and societies that ran the social life on campus. From this, I helped spearhead initiatives to build the “student-focused era” of content, using my interviewing and video editing skills to tell the stories of students to a wider audience.
The result: through my various student interviews, society spotlights, and pieces on scientific communication, I garnered more than 10.6 million views and 330,000 likes across all my videos. So, whether it be joining the Photography Society for an afternoon workshop or covering the achievements of Food Science students in brewing their own Kombucha, I was always prepared to translate my experiences into different videos and posts highlighting the achievements of my peers. The quality of my output showed in the work I produced, giving me the opportunity to replicate this process and uplift the pages of Future Student Recruitment and Accommodations.
Ultimately, this experience working with three separate teams in the university gave me invaluable insight into blending my creative vision with the corporate initiatives and brand guidelines set by the senior management and external stakeholders. Provided below are some examples of the various video series I made for UNSW.
